With the purchase of the latest Music Production software Highcliffe School has had the opportunity to become a Steinberg Certified Training Centre and a leading specialist in Music Production. As part of the Steinberg training provision we were able to bring in the music industry practitioner Dom Sigalas to run a songwriting workshop for our 65 GCSE music students.
Dom Sigalas is the Steinberg Product Specialist for the UK and a London based film composer, music producer and musicologist. Dom has composed and produced music for films, television and radio commercials, documentaries (Animal Planet), musicals, corporate video, video games, websites and hundreds of tracks of library music. His credits include National Geographic, Studiocanal and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Dom has also collaborated with many independent filmmakers and cinematographers and has a considerable portfolio of commercially released records.
The students were inspired to use the new capabilities of the latest industry standard music software to create their own music using a process very relevant to 21st century music-making. Many students will be choosing to use this tool when creating their next coursework submission of a music composition and through the use of advanced compositional techniques that were showcased in the workshop will be aiming for the highest grades.
