All the main ensembles performed for us including the Choir and Choir Band, Concert Band, Percussion Ensemble, Folk Band and the ever-expanding Guitar and Ukulele Orchestra, each of which have members with a mix of experience and ability, all working together to produce some stunning performances.
Most inspirational are the performances from the small groups and soloists which are organised and rehearsed by the students themselves. Each act auditions for a place in the concert and the high quality musicianship that comes through each year makes this a most difficult job for the panel to make their selection.
This year was certainly no exception and we had mesmerising solo performances from Katie and Juliet in year 9 and duets from Leila and Freddie, Katie and Emily, Laura and Daisy, Amelia and Megan and from Rebecca and Eve, all students from across years 8, 9 and 10.
There was also a superb collaboration between Year 12 and Year 10, Emily and Oliver and their arrangement of ‘Somebody that I Used to Know’. The beautiful harmony of the Sam, Hannah and Natalie trio was also a high point, as was the year 10 collaboration between Jessica, Ellie, Nik and Oliver and their version of ‘Brazil’.
The year 8 dance club also contributed alongside the year 9 GCSE Dance students who provided some lively moments as did the year 12 rock sounds of Cavan, Jacques & George.
We were very grateful to all the students who worked so hard both those on the stage and to those behind the scenes especially the very competent sound and lighting crew.
