Brilliant Club 2018

The Brilliant Club is an award-winning charity that exists to widen access to highly selective universities for students from non- selective state schools.

The Brilliant Club runs a programme, known as the Scholars Programme, which includes a launch day trip to Southampton University followed by tutorials, an assignment and a Graduation at another Russell Group University. The Brilliant Club designs and delivers a structured, university-style learning experience that equips students with the knowledge, skills and ambition to help them secure a place at highly selective universities. Our students will study a rigorous academic subject and complete weekly homework assignments helping them to develop their higher order thinking skills. This is an academic challenge for them and all students will submit a final assignment of around 1500 words in length, which is pitched above the student’s current level and is marked in the style of university grading, receiving a 1st, 2:1. 2:2 or 3rd.

This week our new Year 7 Scholars had their first tutorial of The Scholar's Programme from The Brilliant Club today. Students learnt about literary theory and delved deeper into the original French publication of Little Red Riding Hood, looking at the writing from different perspectives and how morals were woven into fairy tales.

Thank you very much to The Brilliant Club and our fantastic PhD tutor Matthew Ryan-East.
