Sixth Form Tackle Philosophical Maths Questions

Ten students went to the Mathematics Institute at Oxford University to discuss some big philosophical topics “Can Machines Think?” “What is infinity?” “The Philosophy of Time?”

On Wednesday 10th January, ten Year 11 and 12 students visited the Mathematical Institute at Oxford University where they attended lectures on Philosophy combined with various Science courses, including Computer Science “Can Machines Think?”, Physics “The Philosophy of Time?” and Mathematics “What is Infinity?”.

Students also had a tour of Somerville College – a beautiful college named after Scottish Mathematician and Scientist Mary Somerville. Students came away inspired and ready to get stuck into their studies in Further Maths at A Level, after seeing the Mathematics Institute they are all hopeful of applying to Oxford in the future!

Many thanks to Mrs Alldis-Smith who accompanied us.
