Unforgettable Performance At The Royal Albert Hall

Highcliffe student Alice Smallman and her sister Poppy had the amazing opportunity to perform at the Royal Albert Hall for the second time.

Here’s Alice’s account of their amazing day:

We were one of few selected from our dance school, Studio One to make an elite team showcasing our tap number, ‘Hot Shoe Shuffle’.

We woke up at 5:30 in the morning to get ready and we got the coach up to London ready for the day ahead. Once we arrived, we were sent to the depths of the Royal Albert Hall to our dressing room. Straight away we had a dress rehearsal and because we were tapping we had mics put on our tap shoes to pick up the sound, this was such a great experience to see how it all works. Once we stepped foot on the stage, it was astonishing how many seats were in the audience. It was wonderful! We performed not only on the stage but in the arena as well which was really big!

The day went by really quickly and we were lucky enough to watch the first half of the show including the Royal Ballet performers! Our performance was in the second half and went by so quickly, it was such an honor to perform at the Royal Albert Hall and the dance went so well, we were all perfectly together and we had such great support from the thousands of people watching! In the audience were famous celebrities such as Darcy Bussell, Karen and Kevin Clifton from ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, Arlene Phillips and more who were in one of the many posh boxes. It was an unforgettable day and an amazing experience!
