Highcliffe excels in Rotary Tournament

On the 14th March, Highcliffe School attended the annual district Rotary club technology tournament and through outstanding teamwork, problem solving and enthusiasm achieved excellent results.

The students conducted themselves in an exemplary manner and were a real credit to themselves and the school.

With teams representing 13 local secondary schools the competition was fierce as the teams designed and constructed bridges using a limited number of tools and resources.

The KS3 team, consisting of Michael Devlin, Ollie Woodhouse and Penny Sargent, did exceptionally well, considering they were missing a team member, scoring 1st place with a well planned and executed design.

The KS4 team involving Luke Catesby, Daniel Chauffourier, Jack Kefford and Matt Perry had a strategic approach, producing a thorough and detailed portfolio of their ideas process, achieving a desirable 2nd place.

Finally, the KS5 team also managed an outstanding effort and also achieved 2nd place. Oliver Davies, Rowan Glennie, Cameron Rankin and Jack Towle developed an excellent solution and an exceptionally well-engineered bridge, narrowly missing out on the top spot.

This year’s brilliant performance puts Highcliffe School on joint 1st place for the most successful teams over the 3 years the tournament has been running which is fantastic news for the school and the ADT department.
