Equestrian Team Riding High

The Highcliffe Equestrian Team is going from strength to strength as it gets more and more competition practice.

Charlotte Whiting, Aviv Effeny and Tarka Abraham represented the school at the National Show Jumping Qualifiers at Bryanston School. All three girls rode well in a highly competitive environment where only the top two competitors in each class would progress to the next stage.  We are pleased to report that Tarka Abraham won the Class 1 event by a massive margin of 5 seconds and then also won Class 2 category, although this time by the slimmer margin of 0.3 seconds.

As a result Tarka will now go on to represent Highcliffe School at the NSEA National Show Jumping Finals at Addington Manor later this month.  This is an outstanding achievement and the first time we have ever had a student represent the school at the National Show Jumping Finals.

The week previous to this event was the NSEA National Dressage Qualifiers at Moreton Stables.  On this occasion Ella Maskery and Ellie Govier represented the school.  Like the later event only the top two in each class would qualify to go through to the national finals. In a pair of nail-bitingly close finishes Ella finished third in both classes.  Yet again we have to stress the magnitude of this achievement given the incredibly high standard of the competition. Well done to all the team members!
