In remembrance of Gareth Hughes

Highcliffe community received more sad news on Monday when we learnt of the death of a much-loved former Deputy Headteacher, Gareth Hughes.

Gareth took up post as Deputy in September 2002 and worked at Highcliffe until August 2008 when he moved to become Headteacher of Rhosnesni High School in Wrexham.

Gareth was a very popular leader, liked and admired by both teachers and students. He will be most fondly remembered because of his effervescent enthusiasm and intelligent sense of humour.

Gareth worked tirelessly to support the welfare and well-being of all the students at Highcliffe and was very much respected for his contributions to the school, not least his active participation in the many music productions in which he participated and supported. He was a conscientious member of the Humanities team and initiated Citizenship GCSE in the school.

He is fondly remembered by many of us here at Highcliffe and we are very saddened to hear of his passing away at the age of 53 after a long battle with cancer.
