Cholet Exchange 2015

French Exchange with Collège Trémolières, Highcliffe and Ballard Schools.

Sunday

After an early start from Southampton airport, we arrived at Nantes to be greeted by some of our host families and a sunny sky. We then met the rest when we arrived at Collège Trémolières and were soon taken back home to spend the afternoon and evening 'en famille'.

Monday

We had an official welcome breakfast in the 'salle polyvalente", where our French partners explained the programme for the week in French and English. We also presented them with a Highcliffe tie each and demonstrated how it should be worn. The French students who had taken part in the Exchange last year (now in troisième) also came along wearing their shirts and ties and a visiting journalist from "Ouest France" took a group photo. He then interviewed M. Nédelec and Mme Khalil and an article about the French and English exchange should appear in the regional paper towards the end of the week.

After enjoying a three course school lunch in the canteen, we took a bus to Parc de Moine where we spent the afternoon working in mixed teams to find clues, perform various tasks and solve the mystery of where the treasure was hidden. Team 1 found the (edible) treasure and kindly shared it with everyone. Students then went home to work on their outfits for sports day on Tuesday and relax with their families.

Tuesday

Today is Trémosports, where all students take part in the annual sports day. Students dress up in various themes in their classes, as you can see in the photos below. Highcliffe and Ballard Students took part too and cheered their penfriends on. You should just be able to make out Michael and Guy playing basketball. Two highlights of the day were the "Trémoburgers" with "frites", and the presentation of prizes, when the current "troisième" students (who did the exchange last year) said an emotional "au revoir" to M. Nédelec as he retires this year.
