Real Business, Real Challenge, Real success

Early in February Mr Callear and Miss Gooding took 5 Year 10 girls to the South West Regional Finals of the Real Business Challenge in Bristol.

The team consisted of Nadia Rhodes, Kess Strongman, Sophie McCammon, Hannah Towle and Zoe Sheard. In earlier rounds the girls had seen off 46 schools to be selected as one of the final ten to represent the South West.

The competition challenge was the creation of a campaign to raise awareness of the Special Olympic World Games 2015. The girls were tasked to create an app for the fundraising events they would hold, a bus-stop billboard and a PowerPoint presentation to promote their strategies.

It was very quickly decided they would create a ‘Onesie Challenge’, where people would be nominated to take photos of themselves in onesies and upload their images to Facebook and Twitter, then making a donation to the charity.  Throughout the day the groups were mentored by very influential business people who gave then a fantastic insight into the world of business.

The Highcliffe team delivered a very strong presentation to the panel of 5 judges which was led by Paul Hull, Sky broadcaster and leading P.R representative for Special Olympics. It was a very tight decision and the Highcliffe girls were awarded South West Regional Runners Up. This is an “onesie wonderful” achievement for the team. Well done girls!
