UK Linguistics Olympiad 2015

On the Friday before half-term eight dedicated Year 12 language students stayed behind after school to participate in the UK Linguistics Olympiad.

This national competition pits the students against university level linguistics challenges.

This year the students were asked to solve problems in Japanese, Murrinhpatha (an indigenous Australian language), Finnish and Georgian verbs.

Congratulations to Kathryn Moses who received a Bronze Certificate as she came in the top 20% nationally. 75% of all participants are from independent schools and the level of competition is extremely tough. Click here to see an example of last year’s Advanced Paper.

Well done to all who took part:

1. Phoebe Grinter

2. Juan Marcos Garcia-Carvajal

3. Alberto Arevalo-Delgado

4. Kathyrn Moses

5. Jenna Slade

6. Hannah Rice

7. Georgina Ramsier

8. Tessa Rizzoli
