A Friend for the Future

Would you like to host a Japanese student?

“First I couldn’t understand Highcliffe students’ English. But, after a few days past, I could understand English a little. I’m glad to join this program and proud of spending a good time with my host family.”
- Masashi Kodama

Once again we will be welcoming a delegation of Japanese students from our partner school, Johoku High School in Hiroshima. There are 14 boys coming and we are still looking for 2 more host families. Families who have hosted over the years have had a fantastic time. It’s also a great way to learn about each other’s culture and lifestyle.

Every year they have come, the Johoku Boys have proved themselves to be out-going and filled with a “have-a-go” attitude. They are full of enthusiasm and a willingness to make the most of their time in England, both in the school and with their hosts. Furthermore, they contribute fully to school life, taking part in lessons where they can and introducing students to their culture and lifestyle.

Whenever the Johoku boys come here, they receive a warm welcome from our school and our host families. Sometimes potential host families have been a little apprehensive about hosting, but once they have done so, they often want to do it again and again.

If you think this is something that you would like to do, please get in touch with Mr Bryden by emailing office@highcliffeschool.com or contacting the main reception on (01425) 273381.
