Music Technology... in action

Congratulations to our Music Technology students who have all successfully passed their Live Sound unit this month.

The aim of this new BTEC level 2 course is to offer students a range of real-life scenarios and hands-on experience of the music industry and to explore the variety of career options on offer. To do this we have brought in some professionals to work closely with the students and train them in various job roles.

Last month the Music Technology team were responsible for setting up and operating the live sound rig for our annual school Christmas concert and we were lucky enough to have Sam Wright from CPS, a local sound and lighting production company, to train each student in sound engineering. Each member of the team had the opportunity to take charge of the sound desk for a variety of concert items and were able to produce a clear and balanced mix of sound to a professional standard.

It is exciting to see future producers and sound engineers learning their craft and discovering their talent. Well done to all our students who made the most of the opportunity and achieved such excellent results.
