Shaping the Future!

Regular viewers will be very aware that at Highcliffe one of our key goals is to send students out into the world beyond school able to achieve success for themselves and make a positive contribution to society as a whole.

To that end we have always encouraged our alumni to contact us with their news and often share it with you.

This is definitely the case with a recent email from former Headboy Samuel Joynson.  He emailed us over the summer to update us and the full email is below.

We have also had exciting news from other alumni in the past few weeks. We will have an update about Adam Sloper’s time in Colombia studying Latin American History and working for a childrens’ charity. You can also read about Kate Howard’s work in an intensive care unit at a major London hospital. As if that was not enough there is also news from Emma Cavan about her life as a PhD student and gallivanting around the world working on marine conservation projects.

‘Dear Ms Karanja,
I am just writing to inform you that I have completed my degree in International Relations and History and achieved First Class Honours with LSE100 Distinction. Obviously, I am delighted with this result, and would like to once again thank you for helping with my applications to get me into LSE in the first place!
In terms of future plans, I have been offered a training contract to become an international lawyer with 'Magic Circle' law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, meaning that I will be funded through law school by the firm for the next 18 months, before starting working full-time in February 2015. As a result of the interests developed during my degree, I hope to specialise in international corporate oil and gas law, alongside international conflict arbitration. In other news, I have continued to pursue my passion for travel, and have recently returned from backpacking around the Caucasus and Iraq with Adam and Michael which was a great adventure. I also still partake in competitive debating, and have qualified to represent the UK in the European Championships next month which I am really looking forward to!

All the best,
Samuel Joynson’
