Thursday, 3rd October
We’re back in school but will be visiting a local olive oil Factory at break time to discover the process behind the manufacturing of olive oil. This evening we have a flamenco demonstration and class in Bailén.

Estamos de regreso en el colegio pero hoy vamos a visitar una fábrica de aceite a la hora del descanso para informarnos del proceso de la fabricación del aceite de Oliva. Esta tarde iremos a una demonstración y a una clase  de baile Flamenco  en Bailén.

Wednesday, 2nd October
We travelled to Granada today which is nestled in the Sierra Nevada. We visited the Alhambra a 14th century Moorish palace. We had a tour around the palace and fortifications and enjoyed the stunning views to the  Sierra Nevada mountains in the distance. The students enjoyed the beautiful views and impressive architecture. We finished off our visit with a trip to a small shopping centre in Granada.

Hoy viajamos a Granada la cual está  rodeada por la Sierra Nevada. Allí visitamos La Alhambra, un palacio árabe del siglo XIV. Hicimos un recorrido del palacio y sus fortificaciones y disfrutamos de la magnífica vista de la Sierra Nevada  que se observa a lo lejos. Los estudiantes disfrutaron de las hermosas vistas y de la impactante arquitectura. Terminamos nuestra visita con un viaje a un centro comercial pequeño ubicado en el centro de Granada.

Tuesday 1st October
The students are getting their first taste of Spanish school today where they are joining their Spanish partners in classes at IES Hermanos Medina Rivilla. Lessons start at 8.30 and they have 6 lessons of one hour each with just a 30 minute break. Students then go home to lunch at 3pm.

Los estudiantes tienen hoy la oportunidad de experimentar su primer día en un colegio español donde ellos, junto con sus compañeros españoles, asisten a clases en el colegio IES Hermanos Medina Rivilla. Las clases empiezan a las 8:30.  Tendrán seis lecciones de una hora cada una con sólo un descanso de 30 minutos. Los estudiantes irán a casa para la comida a las 3:00.

Monday 30th September
Today we visited the beautiful city of Seville, the capital of the Andalusia region. Firstly, we visited the cathedral, which is the third largest cathedral in the world and the largest gothic cathedral. The cathedral boasts a wealth of intricate decorations and golden ornaments, as well as the tomb of Christopher Columbus. We also climbed the 100m high Giralda, which is the bell tower, a former minaret of the original mosque. We were treated to incredible views of the city. After the cathedral, we walked through the narrow streets of the city enjoying the traditional architecture. The students enjoyed a short time at the shops before we climbed aboard horse pulled carriages for a tour of the city. The tour included a leisurely ride through the ornate gardens and a visit of the Plaza de España, which is overlooked by an enormous Moorish palace, which has featured in Lawrence of Arabia and Star Wars, the Phantom Menace.



Hoy hemos visitado la ciudad de Sevilla, la capital de Andalucía. Primero, hemos visitado la Catedral, la cual es la tercera  más grande del mundo y la más grande catedral gótica. Hace alarde de sus  enriquecidas decoraciones intrincadas y de sus ornamentos en oro, como también del sitio donde se encuentra  la tumba de Cristóbal Colón. Hemos subido la Torre de La Giralda, con cien metros de altura, la cual es una torre campanario y una antigua minarete de la mezquita original. Disfrutamos de una panorámica increíble. Después de visitar la Catedral, caminamos a través de las estrechas calles de la ciudad donde pudimos disfrutar de la hermosa arquitectura tradicional. Los estudiantes disfrutaron de un corto tiempo en las tiendas antes de hacer un paseo en carruaje por  la ciudad. El paseo en carruaje incluía un tour a través de los ornados jardines de María Luisa y una visita a la Plaza de España la cual da la vista a un enorme palacio Moro el cual ha figurado en las películas ‘Lawrence de Arabia’ y ‘La Guerra de las Estrellas-La amenaza del fantasma’.

Friday 27^th September and Saturday, 28^th September
After an excellent flight and smooth onward journey we arrived in Bailén at 19.30 to be met by a warm welcome from our hosts.
On Saturday, students spent the day with their families. Many went shopping in the nearby town of Linares. In the evening we all met up in Linares to go bowling. After a good time bowling and lots of giggling, we went for a burger together. The students are spending Sunday with the families and many will be going on a short pilgrimage for a local religious festival.



Despues de un excelente vuelo y un viaje sin complicaciones llegamos a Bailen a las 19:30  donde fuimos recibidos con una calurosa bienvenida por parte de nuestros anfitriones españoles.
El sábado, los estudiante pasaron el día entero con sus familias. Muchos fueron de compras al pueblo cercano de Linares. En la noche nos reunimos en Linares para ir a la boleraDespués de jugar bolos y de muchas risas, fuimos a comer hamburguesas todos juntos. Los estudiantes pasarán el domingo con sus familias y algunos irán a hacer una corta caminata de 6 kilometros nada más hacía el santuario de la virgen de Zocueca lo cual es una peregrinación local religiosa.
