GCSE Results 2013

Record breaking results have been achieved at Highcliffe School.

Once again the highest standards are maintained at Highcliffe School. The school is delighted to report a sharp rise in the examination results this year.

88% of students gained 5 or more good GCSE grades (*A – C grades).
74% of students gained 5 or more good GCSE grades (*A -- C grades) including English and Mathematics.

66 students gained 5 or more A* or A grades .

This represents a year on year trend of improving examination results.

Almost 90% of students at Highcliffe achieved 5 or more *A – C GCSE grades. Most achieve 8 or more of these very high grades.

This is excellent news for students, parents and the Highcliffe community. It also means that a record number of students will be progressing into the Sixth Form with outstanding examination results.

Headteacher, Judith Potts,

"Congratulations to our students. I am delighted with these results as they show a continued increase over a number of years and maintain our position as a high achieving school. These GCSE results complement the outstanding A level results that we achieved last week. A level courses in the Sixth Form are already very full.
The 5 A* to C pass rate of 88% is a real credit to our students, our staff and the parents who provide that continuing support from home. We had anticipated excellent results this year and our students performed very well to meet and, in many cases, to exceed these high expectations. OfSTED have very recently stated that they are concerned that high ability students are not achieving as well as they should do. This is not so at Highcliffe. We have 31 students who have gained 10 or more *A/A grades which means that well almost 15% of students at Highcliffe School gain the best possible grades in at least 10 subjects. As a comprehensive school this is a highly commendable performance".

Jenny Bewley, Head of Achievement for Year 11 was absolutely delighted with the results and said, "We are so proud of our students. This is fantastic news!  Thanks go to all the students and their parents. We have worked together over a 5 year period to achieve these great results.
I am delighted that so many students have excellent grades to move on to their A level studies and other programmes in the Sixth Form.
This is a great day to celebrate! Year 11 now have the opportunity to go on and be as successful as our Sixth Form were last week. We have a record number of students who have gained 10 or more *A/A grades. I am very proud of the results achieved by all of the students at Highcliffe".
