Year 10 Coca-Cola Real Business Challenge 2013
On the 12th February, a team of year 10 girls competed at the Regional Finals of the Coca-Cola real business challenge that took place at the Amex Stadium, Brighton.  The team had to produce a campaign to promote the ‘Special Olympics’ that are taking place at Bath University in August 2013.  These are games for people with learning disabilities.  This included delivering a presentation to over 100 students and teachers and also producing a radio advert to promote their campaign.

Unfortunately the team didn’t progress through to the national final but worked extremely hard to produce a great campaign, gained a great deal from the experience and were a credit to the school.

IFS Student Investor Challenge
The IFS Student Investor Challenge is a national competition that has been running for a number of years.

What Does the Challenge Involve?
The IFS Student Investor Challenge is designed for teams of four students and has two distinct phases:
•Phase One: Using the website, invest a virtual £100,000 in a set of stocks between 5th  November 2012 and 1st February 2013 and watch your wealth grow.  Each month, the most improved team will be rewarded with a prize (maximum one prize per team).
•Phase Two: The top 20 or so teams from each region with the best performing portfolios as of 1st February 2013 will be invited to attend the regional finals.  Teams will be given a series of questions and the top two teams from each region will be invited to the National Final in late April.

Our team’s portfolio returned 24% in 3 months of trading.  They finished 26th overall out of 7,584 teams and 3rd out of 1,700 in the South West and South Wales region!

They now have to attend one of 4 regional finals in Bristol, where 21 teams complete for a place in the national finals on 12th March in Bristol.
