MyHelp – over 1000 requests for help and counting!

Our unique home study support system ‘MyHelp’ allows students in year 7 and 8 to access assistance with completing their set home study by school email.

Teachers log home study onto our MyHighcliffe system and this appears for students online either by the MyHighcliffe portal or their mobile using the MyHighcliffe Apps for smartphones.
If a student has a problem with their home study they can click on the question mark icon on their MyHighcliffe page and ask for help.  An email is sent to a member of staff who is able to either help directly or can contact other members of the teaching staff to gain information or confirm elements of the work set.

Examples of the types of support which students have requested include:
• I don’t understand what my teacher has asked me to do?
• Can you help me as I don’t understand this key term?
• I have been asked to create a collage, can I do it on a computer?
• I am having technical problems with an attachment – can you help me?
• I’ve lost the sheet – what should I do?
• I’ve lost my vocab book – do you have another one?
• I was away – what should I do?  Can I visit my teacher to find out?
• I can’t remember my ‘MyMaths’ password and I’m unable to do my work?

The system has proven very popular with over 1050 (490 from our current year 7!) requests for help being answered over the last 14 months. Some great feedback from students, parents and teachers has been received.
This new service has also helped in the development of the MyHighcliffe system with changes being made to open attachments with Google Docs and changes being made to the Smartphone Apps in the next few months.
