Rugby Success

Over the course of November the Highcliffe Rugby teams have completed in the Bournemouth Schools Rugby Tournaments held at St Peters School.

The tournament ran on consecutive days over the course of an academic week. The 6^th form team, got the competitions under way with an emphatic victory beating all teams to cross their path. It was fantastic to be able to get a 6^th form team together, and really highlights the development and talent that is now embedded into the Highcliffe 6^th Form. (Team: N Gallagher, J Busby, E Day, J Cutler, R McLeod, M Runnells, T Ibarguen-Burrows, H Busby, S Reynolds, J Thomas, G Davies, J Underwood, J Radford).

The next team to take up  the challenge were the Year 7’s who completed against Arnewood, BCS, St Peters, Porchester, they took to their task with relish brushing all teams aside to win all their games and therefore the tournament by scoring 16 tries and conceding just 2. (Team: S Anders, B McKay, C Brown, A Coe,  W Nicholls, M Gazzard, M Derham, G Rankin, B Arter, B Fletcher).

The Year 8’s and 9’s, many of who had recently attended the Italy Sports Tour, both went into their Tournaments with high expectation’s having had a successful seasons. The Year 9 team went on win their tournament with a closely won victory in the final with the full details published earlier on the website.

The Year 8’s were disappointed to finish runners up losing by the narrowest of margins in the final having played some great rugby during the course of the day as they have done all season.

The Year 10 & 11’s played in U16 competitions and went onto finish a credible 4^th of 8 especially considering the number of Year 10s in the team, their performance shows real potential for next season.
