Year 6 to Year 7

September and October are busy months for parents of Year 6 children! It is the time when decisions need to be made about which secondary school to apply for a place at.

Here at Highcliffe School, we are very keen for prospective parents and children to feel that during this time they have had plenty of opportunities to see the school, get a feel for our ‘ethos’ and ask an questions that they may have.

Thursday October 6th is this year’s Year 6 Open Evening. Always one of the highlights of the year, Open Evening gives the whole school a chance to shine – to show the wide range of resources and activities that each curriculum area utilises across the school. Open Evening is a chance for parents to meet with teaching and support staff, find out about the curriculum that we teach and ask any questions they may have. Most importantly, at Open Evening, hundreds of Highcliffe School students will be on hand to demonstrate their skills and interests, escort parents on tours and show their enthusiasm for our school.

However, Open Evening is only one of three planned activities in the first half of the Autumn Term designed to help prospective students and parents find out about Highcliffe School.

In the two weeks leading up to Open Evening all the Year 6 pupils attending our seven feeder schools will have paid a morning visit to Highcliffe School, where they will meet Highcliffe students who came from their primary/junior school, tour the school, take part in an activities as wide ranging as key-ring making and dancing and have the opportunity to ask any questions they may have.

Then, in the two weeks after Open Evening, running up to half term, we are organising parent tours every morning – a chance to see the school in action, get a feel for the supportive, working atmosphere that we have here at Highcliffe and meet a senior member of staff.

All interested parents are invited to come along and take one of these tours - they run at 9.15am and 10.15am from Monday 10th October to Friday 21st October. Please contact the School Office to book a time suitable for you.
