UCAS Convention 2017

On Thursday 27th April, a group of Year 12 students attended the UCAS Convention at Bournemouth University.

Students had the opportunity to browse and engage with representatives from different universities and to ask questions regarding courses, accommodation and entry requirements. The day also allowed students to pick up any prospectuses they wanted from particular universities.

The convention also enabled students to visit an actual university campus to get a feel of life at university, and provide opportunities for students to explore and consider future pathways other than university, with the National Apprenticeships Service, Future Teaching Scholars and the Armed forces all in attendance.

The convention hosted lectures that the students could attend based on Personal Statement writing, Student Finance, The Application Process and Student Life. These lectures allowed students to gain a better understanding of, not only what it is like to be a university student, but also educate them on the importance of understanding finances, an insight into the UCAS application, and what experience they need before going to university.

With the sun shining and a BBQ on offer, the students all seemed to have a fulfilling and productive visit. The Sixth Form team would like to thank Bournemouth University for hosting the event and for making our visit accessible and enjoyable.

    Student Quotes:

“The convention showed me the variety of courses and opportunities out there. A must do trip.” – Finlay Graham

“The convention gave me a good insight into what universities are available for my course and I found out what grades they will accept.” – Jessica Mills

“Really eye-opening experience to what different universities can offer me career wise and so useful to speak to people from different universities that I had never considered before. Definitely worthwhile!” – Mollie Bailly
